Educational Chaplaincy

Educational chaplains work in schools, colleges and universities. Their role is to support students through their education, and also to support staff and parents. In private schools, they may be employed directly by the school; in public schools, chaplains are arranged through qualified providers.

Most universities also employ chaplains, often through organisations like Young Life or AFES, or through different denominations.

Big Heart Big Vision
Big Heart Big Vision provides school chaplains in the Greater Western Sydney region, and has long-term partnerships with other community service providers that bring value and support to the school community. They tackle issues of cyberbullying, violence, drugs, crime, and gang activity, as well as identifying and providing leadership programs that best meet the school's objectives.
Generate Chaplaincy
Generate is the largest provider of School Chaplains in NSW government schools with 220 School Chaplaincy positions. Generate partners with schools in the recruitment, training, supervision and ongoing professional development of School Chaplains, ensuring the placement of well-trained and qualified Chaplains who are equipped to support young people and strengthen local communities.
National School Chaplaincy Association
NSCA is the peak body representing school chaplains in Australia.
National Student Wellbeing Program
The National Student Wellbeing Program is a Commonwealth-funded initiative to support the wellbeing of students and the broader school community through the provision of pastoral care and/or wellbeing support services through a school chaplain or student wellbeing officer.
Funding from the NSWP is allocated by each state or territory.
Public School Chaplaincy NSW
Public School Chaplaincy NSW (PSC NSW) provides wider state representation and is involved in advocacy and research.
Founding members of PSC NSW are Bush Church Aid, Generate Ministries, Tamworth Chaplains Board and Young Life.
SU Australia Chaplaincy
SU has been providing social, emotional and pastoral support in Australian schools through chaplaincy for over 30 years.
SU Chaplaincy is a ministry of Scripture Union Australia.
Young Life Australia
Young Life assists schools in finding the right Chaplain or Student Wellbeing Support Worker to meet the school’s vision for the wellbeing of their school community. Young Life Australia has been a National Chaplaincy Program provider since 2007 when the program was introduced.
