Chaplaincy is a widely varied field and comes in many flavours. A school chaplain will have a very different experience to a hospital chaplain, who has a different experience again from a prison chaplain.

These industry bodies provide resources to support chaplaincy generally, and may provide accreditation or professional development programs.

Australian Volunteer Emergency Chaplaincy Alliance
As part of the National Council of Churches, AVECA aims to connect the leaders of state and territory disaster recovery chaplaincy networks, and connect with governments, ecumenical councils and other groups to extend the work of disaster and emergency chaplaincy response in Australia.
Chaplaincy Innovation Lab (USA)
The Chaplaincy Innovation Lab (CIL), based at Brandeis University, launched in October 2018 to bring chaplains, theological educators, clinical educators and social scientists into conversation about the work of chaplaincy and spiritual care.
As religious and spiritual life continues to change, the CIL sparks practical innovations that enable chaplains to nurture the spirits of those they serve and reduce human suffering.
Spiritual Care Australia
As the peak Australian body for Spiritual Care, Spiritual Care Australia (SCA) recognises the importance of having professional, skilled, and experienced practitioners whose capabilities and competence can be assessed and credentialed according to a capabilities framework.
Transforming Chaplaincy (USA)
The mission of Transforming Chaplaincy is to promote evidence-based spiritual care and integrate research into professional practice and education by fostering a culture of inquiry.
